Hyderabad: After 6 months of Telangana being carved out of Andhra Pradesh, the state is to witness its first budget session today. Amid huge expectations and unprecedented secrecy surrounding the first ever budget for Telangana State, Finance Minister Etela Rajender will be presenting the budget for 2014-15 in the Legislature Assembly.

The Telangana Legislative Assembly's Budget session would be held over a period of a month. In order to accommodate more time to debate, the state government has also decided to convene the House in the evenings and Saturdays as well.

In a press release given by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's office, the Telangana government would like to change certain Acts which are in force since Telangana is a new state.

On 2 June 2014, Telangana was separated from Andhra Pradesh as a new 29th state of India, with Hyderabad as its capital.

Chandrashekar Rao was elected as the first chief minister of Telangana, following elections in which the Telangana Rashtra Samiti party secured majority.
