Another stunning performance from Team India, they end the series on a high. The men in blue have once again bossed the run chase with captain Kohli leading from the front. Kohli hits another unbeaten ton, he has once again anchored the run chase with supreme ease. India lose two early wickets but Kohli first along with Pandey and then with Jadhav ensured there were no further hiccups. Jadhav scored his second ODI fifty and stitched a crucial partnership with Kohli for 109 runs for the fourth wicket. Sri Lanka on the other hand, started the defense really well with Malinga and Fernando bagging a wicket each but were not supported well by the rest. The spinners could not get a lot of assistance from the wicket and also failed to build pressure. This is the first instance, the hosts have been whitewashed in their own den. Stay tuned for the presentation in a while.

Earlier, pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked his maiden fifer as India bowl out Sri Lanka for a modest total of 238. (SCORECARD)

I remember a game which happened earlier this year against England where these two were batting together. Jadhav was the Man of the Match then and he said, it's not easy to bat with Virat Kohli, he makes you run hard. Coming to the ball, around off, turning in, clipped deftly down to fine leg. Kedar Jadhav is the new man in. As soon as he walked in, Kohli walks towards him to share something. What's the message from the skipper?

20.56 IST: OUT! A much-needed breakthrough for Sri Lanka. Puspakumara gets Manish Pandey. Bowls it slower on middle, turning away. Pandey goes for the sweep as there was no one at the deep mid-wicket area. He gets a top edge which goes straight up in the air towards short mid-wicket. Upul Tharanga stationed there settles himself under it and takes it easily. The 99-run stand has been broken. An opening for Sri Lanka? Shorter in length on off, Kohli punches it towards covers and sets off for a run. the fielder there gets to the balla nd fires a flat quick throw to the keeper who whips the bails off in a flash. IND 108/2 in 22 overs

20.44 IST: A referral for a run out has been sent upstairs. Not a lot of excitement from the Sri Lankans.

Time for Drinks! So, after losing the wickets of Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma. Virat Kohli and Manish Pandey have made sure there are no further hiccups.India still need another 157 runs and Sri Lanka would hope for a wicket or two after the break.

20.28 IST: Just three runs from Dananjaya's over. IND 82/2 in 17 overs

20.25 IST: Fifty Partnership between Kohli and Pandey. Pandey tapps it towards the point region for a single. 5 runs from Mathews over.  IND 79/2 in 16 overs

20.20 IST: Only four came off Dananjaya's over, a decent one for the hosts. IND 74/2 in 15 overs

20.17 IST: Tidy over from Mathews, just 3 runs from it. IND 70/2 in 14 overs

20.12 IST: Mathews goes wide of the crease and angles it on the pads, Pandey flicks it through square leg for a run. 6 runs from Mathews over. IND 63/2 in 12 overs

20.08 IST: Dananjaya starts off well, just four singles from his first over. IND 57/2 in 11 overs

Powerplay 2 signalled. Bowling change as well. Just like India did, Sri Lanka have brought their go-to spinner, Akila Dananjaya into the attack.

20.04 IST: FOUR! Fifty comes up for India. Kohli makes great use of the Free Hit. Fernando serves a full delivery outside off, Kohli bludgeons it down the ground for a boundary.  IND 53/2 in 10 overs

20.02 IST: FOUR! What shot! Shot of the day. Not that full outside off, Kohli walks ahead and drives it through covers for a boundary. That was timing to perfection.  IND 48/2 in 9.5 overs

19.58 IST: 6 runs from Malinga's over, a good one for India. IND 40/2 in 9 overs

19.54 IST: FOUR LEG BYES! Angles it on the pads, Pandey fails to flick it but it goes off the pads and down to the fine leg fence.  IND 34/2 in 8 overs

Manish Pandey is the new man in.

19.51 IST: OUT! WOW! What a catch by the left arm-spinner Pushpakumara! He has taken an absolute blinder. The question here is was this shot needed from Sharma? Fernando bowls it on a length outside off, Sharma goes down on one knee and goes for the scoop but does not get enough power to get it over short fine leg. The fielder there leaps full stretch and takes it brilliantly. The umpires go upstairs to check the front foot and replays show that it very, very close but Rohit has been giving out. A big wicket for the hosts. The man in form has to depart.  IND 29/2 in 7.3 overs

19.48 IST: Bouncer to end the over from Malinga. Sharma does well to evade it. Four runs from the over. IND 28/1 in 7 overs

19.44 IST: In the air... but safe! Shorter outside off, Sharma tries to pull but gets a top edge and it goes towards third man but lands in no-mans land. Malinga at third man hares after the ball but could not reach it. The batsmen take a run, 7 runs from Fernando's over. IND 24/1 in 6 overs

19.36 IST: OUT! Malinga strikes! Not a good return for Rahane. This is another occasion where Rahane has got out to a short ball. Malinga bangs it in short, Ajinkya goes for the pull but gets a top edge which goes down to fine leg. Munaweera stationed there sets himself under it and takes it on the third attempt. He almost dropped that but does well to hang on as he kept his eyes on the ball. An early wicket for Sri Lanka just what they needed.      IND 17/1 in 4.4 overs

19.31 IST: FOUR! Gift for Rohit! Full and swinging down the leg side. Sharma flicks it fine down the leg side for a boundary. IND 15/0 in 4 overs

19.28 IST: A maiden over from Lasith Malinga. IND 7/0 in 3 overs

19.24 IST: Started to find the middle Rahane. Fernando bowls it just short of a length outside off, Rahane pushes it towards point where the fielder fumbles and they take a run. IND 7/0 in 2 overs

19.16 IST: Runs straight away. The kind of form he is in, he won't be missing out there. Malinga bowls it shorter outside off, seeing the width on offer, Rohit punches it through cover-point for a brace. The outfield here is not that fast so the ball does not reach the fence and hence the fielder pulls it back. IND 3/0 in 0.5 overs

19.14 IST: We're ready to get underway for the chase. Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane will open the batting for India. Lasith Malinga will bowl the first over of this innings. He has two slips in place.

18.56 IST:

18.35 IST: Maiden ODI five-for for Bhuvneshwar Kumar. What if I tell you he remained wicket-less in the previous games? That's some way to show your class. He delivers it in Malinga's arc, full on middle. The batsman once again has a wild heave across the line but this time it goes straight down the throat of Lokesh Rahul at deep mid-wicket who takes an easy catch. SRI LANKA ARE BOWLED OUT FOR 238!

18.33 IST: FOUR! That went like a bullet! Kumar from over the wicket, keeps it full on the stumps. Fernando clears his front leg and smashes it down the ground past the non-striker. Kohli at long on had no chance to cut it off. A good start to the over for the hosts. SL 237/9 in 49.1 overs

18.29 IST: Two runs and a wicket in Bhuvneshwar's over. SL 230/9 in 48 overs

Lasith Malinga is the last man in.

18.27 IST: OUT! Siriwardana departs now! So does Sri Lanka's hope of reaching 250. The wickets are falling like a pack of cards here. A full toss on leg stump. Siriwardana tries to go over mid-wicket but does not quite gets the elevation and holes out to Shardul who is stationed there. He makes no mistake this time and takes a good catch running in. SL 228/9 in 47.1 overs

18.25 IST: OUT! KABOOM! That was fast! A high full toss on the stumps, Malinda walks down the pitch and goes for a heave but misses and is knocked over. He looks at the square leg umpire for a no ball. They go upstairs to check. Replays show that front foot is fine and also the ball was below waist height.  SL 228/8 in 47 overs

18.20 IST: SIX! DROPPED! Two in two for Lanka. Fuller ball on middle, Pushpakumara lofts it towards deep mid-wicket. Shardul Thakur positioned there gets under the ball but only to palm it over the ropes. These are very useful runs for Sri Lanka.  SL 228/7 in 46.1 overs

18.19 IST: SIX! BOOM! That is going, going and gone. Shorter outside off, Siriwardana picks the length early and hits it over the mid-wicket fence for a maximum. A much-needed one.  SL 222/7 in 46 overs

Malinda Pushpakumara is the next man in.

18.14 IST: OUT! Stumped! It's no. 100 for Dhoni in ODIs and he tops the list now, surpassing the Lankan legend, Kumar Sangakkara! Chahal sees the batsman giving the charge, instead of bowling flat and opts to toss it up even more. Akila misses out completely and Dhoni behind the stumps takes the bails off. He wears a smile on his face to celebrate the milestone. Sri Lanka slip further. Chahal gets his first on his last ball of the spell. SL 212/7 in 45 overs

18.10 IST: Dananjaya dances down to the pitch of the ball and drives to long-off for a single, three runs from Kuldeep's over.  SL 208/6 in 44 overs

18.06 IST: OUT! Yes, no, yes, no, confusion and a run out. Another one bites the dust. Flatter outside off, Hasaranga goes for the cut but it takes the bottom edge and hits Dhoni on the pads as it rolls towards the leg side. Siriwardana first called for the run but then refused and then called for it again. Dhoni was quick to the ball and fires a flat throw Chahal, who collects it and whips the bails off. The players appeal and the umpires go upstairs to check. Replays show that he was well short of his crease. The Lankans are crumbling here. SL 205/6 in 43 overs

So two wrist spinners operating in tandem. Yuzvendra Chahal to bowl from the other end.

18.02 IST: EDGY FOUR! The batsman was completely deceived. A googly on off, turning away. Hasaranga tries to defend it but gets an outside edge through the vacant slip cordon for a boundary.  SL 201/5 in 42 overs

17.58 IST: OUT! Kuldeep strikes! Mathews who looked a frustrated figure out there has to depart. Yadav bowls it slower through the air on middle. Mathews goes for the paddle sweep but gets a top edge which lobs to Dhoni who runs back and takes it easily. Sri Lanka are losing their way here. Two quick wickets just what India needed. Sri Lanka now have two fresh batsmen at the crease. SL 194/5 in 41.1 overs

Kuldeep Yadav is back into the attack.

17.56 IST: FOUR! A touch ahead of a length outside off, Siriwardana lunges forward and belts it wide of mid off to spoil Kumar's over. SL 194/4 in 41 overs

17.52 IST: NO BALL! What was that now? That surely must have slipt out of Bumrah's hand. Bowls a high full toss down the leg side. Mathews ducks under it. The umpire signals a no ball.  SL 189/4 in 40 overs

17.48 IST: Successful over from Bhuvneshwar comes to an end, four runs and a wicket from it. SL 185/4 in 39 overs

Milinda Siriwardana walks in next.

17.45 IST: OUT! TIMBERRR! Kumar finally breaks the partnership. He has got his third. Comes running in and lands it on a length around off, angles it into the batsman. Thirimanne tries to work it down to third man but chops it onto his stump. The 122-run stand has been broken. This was also the highest 4th wicket stand for Sri Lanka against India. A good knock by Thirimanee comes to an end just at the time when Sri Lanka would have looked to up the ante.  SL 185/4 in 38.5 overs

Bhuvneshwar Kumar comes into the attack. He is the pick of the bowlers today with two wickets. India will hope for him to break this partnership.

17.42 IST: Slower one outside off, Thirimanne guides it past the diving point fielder for a run. Four runs from Bumrah's over.  SL 181/3 in 38 overs

Jasprit Bumrah is back into the attack.

17.37 IST: Another good over from Chahal comes to an end, four runs came off it. SL 177/3 in 37 overs

35th ODI fifty for Angelo Mathews, 8th vs India and second of the series.

17.36 IST: FIFTY for Angelo Mathews! Back-to-back fifties for Mathews. He has continued his good form but he would want to score big here. Comes down the track and flicks it to mid-wicket for a brace.  SL 177/3 in 36.4 overs

17.33 IST: In the air... but safe! Thirimanne tries to sweep but gets a top edge towards short fine leg. Bumrah comes running in but is not able to get to the ball. He is beaten by the turn and the batsmen run two. 5 runs from Kuldeep's over.  SL 173/3 in 36 overs

17.30 IST: 4 runs from Chahal's over, another good one from the young spinner. SL 168/3 in 35 overs

Drinks are called on the field. Sri Lanka have pulled things back after the first drinks break. All thanks to the pair of Mathews and Thirimanne. The duo has dealt nicely with the spinners and have not let the run rate dip. The former has completed his fifty while the latter is inching closer of his own. Should they play in a similar manner, their side are on course to get 300. Will they? Remains to be seen as the Indians will be back hunting for a wicket...

17.24 IST: Thirimanne comes down the track and hits it down to long off for a run, two runs from Kuldeep's over. SL 164/3 in 34 overs

17.22 IST: 100-run stand between Mathews and Thirimanne. It's first of the series for Sri Lanka and has come at the right time.

Kuldeep Yadav is back into the attack. He had a good first spell, got the ball to turn. Let us see if he can continue the good work.

17.21 IST: NOT OUT! Impact is outside the line! Chahal tosses it up outside off, Thirimanne gets down to play the sweep shot but misses and is hit on the pads. They appeal but the umpire shakes his head. Chahal has a word with Dhoni who wasn't that sure Kohli then joins in and after having a word with his bowler he takes the review. Ball Tracker shows the impact to be outside the line and it's the end of the story. SL 162/3 in 33 overs

17.19 IST: India have opted to review for a LBW against Thirimanne. Looks like the impact is a touch outside off.

17.15 IST: FOUR! A much-needed one for the hosts. Mathews sees the flight and comes down the track, takes it on the full and hits it through mid-wicket for a boundary. SL 158/3 in 32 overs

18th ODI fifty for Lahiru Thirimanne. This is his 2nd fifty in three innings. Good consistency shown by the southpaw.

17.13 IST: FIFTY! Lahiru Thirimanne continues his good form against India. A very vital knock for his side. He came in when Sri Lanka were in a spot of a bother and provided stability. Fuller outside off, Thirimane drives it through covers for a run.  SL 152/3 in 31.3 overs

17.11 IST: 150 comes up for Sri Lanka. Three runs in Chahal's over. SL 151/3 in 31 overs

17.08 IST: Mathews eases it down to long on for a run, 3 runs from the over. SL 148/3 in 30 overs

17.04 IST: Three runs from Bumrah's over. SL 145/3 in 29 overs

16.59 IST: SIX! BANG! That should settle his nerves. Thirimanne uses his feet and gets to the pitch of the ball and lofts it over the long on fielder for a maximum. Top shot. Sri Lanka needed that. SL 142/3 in 28 overs

16.56 IST: Just a single from Bumrah's over, Indian bowlers are maintaining the pressure. SL 134/3 in 27 overs

Jasprit Bumrah is called back into the attack.

16.52 IST: Steady over from Chahal, just three from it. SL 133/3 in 26 overs

16.48 IST: Good comeback from Shardul after conceding boundary on the very first ball, 7 runs from the over. SL 130/3 in 25 overs

16.44 IST: FOUR! A huge error in judgment by Jadhav! Length ball on off, Mathews comes down the track and tries to go bit. He gets a top edge down towards third man. Kedhar there runs around the ball and then fails to stop it as he lets it through for a boundary. He was caught in two minds there, whether to go for the catch or not.  SL 127/3 in 24.1 overs

16.43 IST: Chahal is keeping it tight at the moment here, 2 runs from the over. SL 123/3 in 24 overs

16.40 IST: Angles it on the pads, Thirimanne flicks it through square leg for a run. 3 runs from the over. SL 121/3 in 23 overs

16.39 IST: Unwanted visitors - It has gone gloomy since a short while ago. There has been that ever-persistent rain threat throughout this series but it has even been more dangerous today. They are looking ominous, those clouds...

Shardul Thakur has been brought back into the attack. He was expensive in his first spell. He would look to keep it tight.

16.36 IST: Just two runs from Chahal's first over, good stuff from the leg-spinner. SL 118/3 in 22 overs

Yuzvendra Chahal comes into the attack.

16.33 IST: Good over for Sri Lanka, 6 runs from the over. SL 116/3 in 21 overs

16.30 IST: FOUR! Fifty-run stand up between Thirimanne and Mathews. A welcome boundary for the Lankans. Thirimanne picked his spot brilliantly. Kuldeep bowls a tossed up delivery. He goes down on one knee and sweeps it over mid-wicket for a boundary.  SL 114/3 in 20.1 overs

16.29 IST: 5 runs from Kedar's over this time. SL 110/3 in 20 overs

16.26 IST: Googly down the leg-side, Mathews works it towards square leg. 3 runs from the over.  SL 105/3 in 19 overs

16.23 IST: 5 runs came off Kedar's first over. SL 102/3 in 18 overs

16.22 IST: 100 comes up for Sri Lanka. SL 101/3 in 17.3 overs

Kedar Jadhav is into the attack.

16.20 IST: NOT OUT! Mathews survives! But this was a classic delivery from Kuldeep Yadav. He bowls a googly around middle, Mathews goes back to defend. He gets squared up and the ball takes the outside edge towards first slip where Rahane dives forward to collect it. No real appeal from the Mumbai lad as he wasn't sure of the catch. The umpire takes it upstairs to see if the catch has carried. The replays show it hasn't.  Another tidy over from Kuldeep, three runs from it. SL 97/3 in 17 overs

16.19 IST: The umpire has gone upstairs for a catch against Mathews. Has the ball bounced in front of Rahane at first slip? The soft signal is NOT OUT!

Time for Drinks! The Sri Lankans have shown great intent with their skipper coming out all guns blazing. However, at the same time they have lost wickets which has given India the upper hand. A lot will be dependent on Mathews if the hosts are to post a competitive total on the board...

India: Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, Virat Kohli (c), Manish Pandey, Kedar Jadhav, MS Dhoni (wk), Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal, Shardul Thakur

Sri Lanka: Niroshan Dickwella (wk), Upul Tharanga (c), Dilshan Munaweera, Lahiru Thirimanne, Angelo Mathews, Milinda Siriwardana, Wanidu Hasaranga, Akila Dananjaya, Malinda Pushpakumara, Vishwa Fernando, Lasith Malinga

14.45 IST: Captain's Corner

Virat Kohli: We would've batted first as well. It has a bit of moisture but we are playing an extra bowler as well today. We need to use the two new balls well and pick up early wickets. The mindset stays the same, we need to play to win and have to ensure that complacency doesn't creep in. It helps us cope up with pressure situations as we have a young team with the experienced players helping them around. We have four changes - KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Shikhar Dhawan are out, Ajinkya Rahane, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Chahal and Jadhav are back in.

Upul Tharanga: We are going to bat first. It is the same wicket that was used in the last game. It is an important game for us. We planned a few things before the series but we couldn't quite do well. This is another opportunity to do the best of our ability. It is tough when the team doesn't stay the same. The captains have changed all through and some injuries as well and we haven't been able to do well in the last four games. We have one change - Kusal Mendis goes out and I come in.

14.41 IST: TOSS! Sri Lanka have won the toss and opted to bat.

14.40 IST: Russel Arnold says chances of a short game are high so the team which wins the toss will look to chase.

14.30 IST: There's another delay, folks. Still some covers on the outfield.

14.24 IST: Good to see the players come out on the ground. The sky looks better and the toss is just 5 minutes away.

14.06 IST: Rain Update - Umpires say that toss will happen at 14.30 IST and the first ball will be bowled at 15.00 IST if there are no further rain interruptions.

14.02 IST: Toss has been delayed due to steady drizzle in Colombo.

13.50 IST: Toss coming up in a few minutes. Don't go anywhere.

13.30 IST: Shikhar Dhawan returns home to attend to ailing mother

In-form opener Shikhar Dhawan will not be a part of India's final ODI and lone T20 international after he left for India to attend his ailing mother, the BCCI stated. Shikhar Dhawan who has been a star performer for India in the Sri Lanka tour will miss the remainder of the matches. "Mr Dhawan's mother is stable and is recovering well at the moment," BCCI acting secretary Amitabh Chaudhary was quoted as saying in the release.

Brief Preview: High on confidence after taking an unassailable 4-0 lead, a dominant India will look to complete a whitewash of Sri Lanka when the two teams face off in the fifth and final One-day International at the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium on Sunday. India had earlier achieved this feat, thrashing Sri Lanka 5-0, at home in 2014-15.

The visitors rode on blistering centuries from skipper Virat Kohli and his deputy Rohit Sharma to thrash Sri Lanka by 168 runs in the fourth ODI and will once again bank on their batting prowess to decimate the hosts.

Former India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who shared an unbeaten 101-run stand with young gun Manish Pandey, is once again expected to add to the fireworks lower down the order against a toothless Lankan attack.

With the series already in their kitty, Kohli might opt to make a few changes in the playing XI and rest opener Shikhar Dhawan or Lokesh Rahul to accommodate Ajinkya Rahane, who has been warming the bench throughout the series.

In the bowling department, pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Shardul Thakur, along with the young left-arm spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel, will once again aim to shatter the inexperienced home batting line-up. (Read Full Preview Here)
