New Delhi: Mahendra Singh Dhoni completed 8 years as a India's most successful skipper as he has been the backbone of India's success in the past 8 years. Dhoni has a couple of admirable characteristic as an ODI leader.

He has carried India to victory so many times through his mental strong performance.  

He made his debut in 2004/05 against Bangladesh for starting his career in One Day International. He has every major trophy in his cabinet.

Let's take a look on some of the impressive performance by the most successful skipper of Team India:

1.It was in 2007 when MS Dhoni was selected as a captain of Team India to lead in T20 World Cup. It was under his brilliant captaincy that India won the inaugural T20 World Cup of 2007.

2.Some of the most impressive performance of 'captain cool' includes leading India to win the coveted Border -Gavaskar trophies in 2008, 2010 and 2013.

 

In IPL, he led the team of Chennai Super Kings and it was under his able captaincy skills that the team tasted victory in both the seasons of 2010 and 2011.

3.In 2013, under Dhoni's command India turn out to be the first team in more than 40 years to whitewash Australia in a test series.

4.Dhoni was the first Indian cricket captain to win an ODI tri-series in Australia (Commonwealth Bank Series in 2008). Talking about dismissals, he is most successful Indian wicketkeeper with 323 catches and 85 stumpings in ODI format.

5.Captain cool has 98 wins as an unbeaten skipper of India in ODI format.

6.Dhoni announced his retirement from Tests in December 2014. He was also awarded with Rajeev Gandhi Khel Ratna and Padma Shree.

7.Dhoni is statistically most successfully test captain, leading India to 27 wins, while losing 18 and drawing 15.

8.Dhoni is also the most successfull captain in ODIs away from home winning 59 matches and lost 41 with 3 draws.
