Islamabad:  A court has deepened the turmoil within the Pakistan Cricket Board by restoring Zaka Ashraf as chairman, according to local media.

Geo Television says Ashraf was reinstated by the two-member divisional bench of the Islamabad High Court after he filed an intra-court appeal against his suspension in May by the high court.

When Judge Shaukat Aziz Siddique suspended Ashraf, he termed his election as chairman "polluted."

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif appointed Najam Sethi as interim chairman, but Siddique stopped him from making any major decisions after Sethi could not conduct fresh elections for chairman within 90 days.

Later, Sharif dissolved the governing board of the PCB and appointed a five-member interim management committee which elected Sethi as its chairman.
