New Delhi: Team India's most destructive opener till date Virender Sehwag has finally decided to hang up his boots from the International cricket. The ‘Nawab of Najafgarh' today retired from all forms of international cricket on his 37th birthday.
Sehwag who was known for his big hits and taking the attack back to opposition bowlers from the first delivery of the match has for many made his ODI debut against Pakistan at Mohali in 1999. Sehwag who has been part of Team India for more than 15 years finally called it a day.
Virender Sehwag has also played his last ODI against Pakistan at Eden Gardens in Kolkata in the year 2013.
He is the only second Indian batsman after Sachin Tendulkar to score a double century in an ODI game. He scored 219 runs against West Indies at Indore's Holkar stadium.
He broke the record of Sachin Tendulkar 200 runs who was the first batsman to score a double century.
Sehwag who was known for his belligerent batting took a toll on the Sri Lankan medium pacer Dilhara Lokuhettige hitting him for 5 boundaries and a six in a single over making it 26 runs off his over.
