Sharjah: Former Sri Lankan skipper Mahela Jayawardene has achieved the 11,000 runs mark in test matches on the 2nd inning of the 3rd test match being played against Pakistan here.

Mahela became the premier Sri Lankan batsmen to do so for his country.

Mahela Jayawardene who is playing his 141st test match reached the milestone with hitting a six over long leg off Saeed Ajmal's delivery.

Former Indian batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar, tops the list of most runs with 15921 in a record 200 Tests.

The list includes two players each from India, the West Indies and Australia and one from Sri Lanka and South Africa.

Mahela Jayawardene scored 46 in Sri Lanka's 133-5 at close of play on the fourth day.
