No Bias In Not Buying Pakistani Players: Shilpa Shetty
Rajasthan Royals co-owner Shilpa Shetty on Friday in Mumbai slammed the media for their biased attitude towards the non-inclusion of Pakistani players in any of the IPL franchisee teams.
Speaking at the news conference to announce the tie up between the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Colors, entertainment channel, the Bollywood actress said ''India is not a small country for them to take a decision to leave out Pakistan players just due to the frosty relations between the two countries.
She further said they (the franchisees) decided what is best for the team and accordingly chose the players.
Shilpa also said ''Taking into consideration the security concerns arising due to Pakistani players playing in the country with regard to certain political parties and some lunatic fringes, we are not sure about their security and did not want to take any risks.''
IPL chairman and commissioner Lalit Modi also came down heavily on the media saying it was bias in its reporting.
He said the non-inclusion of Pakistani players by the franchisees was not a pre-conceived conspiracy and added ''Why no one spoke about why majority of the Australian players were not bought by the franchisees.''
