HARARE, Zimbabwe :South Africa reached 62-1 in the one-off test against Zimbabwe to cut the home side's lead to 194 runs on the second day at Harare Sports Club.

South Africa's only slip on Sunday was the loss of opener Alviro Petersen when he tried to sweep offspinner John Nyumbu shortly before lunch. Petersen fell for 32 but Deal Elgar was unbeaten on 25 as the top-ranked South Africans went about chasing down Zimbabwe's below par first-innings total of 256.
Earlier, South African fast bowler Dale Steyn needed less than two overs in the morning to end Zimbabwe's first innings when he had Nyumbu caught down the leg-side, giving the world's top-ranked bowler 5-46 and his 24th career five-wicket haul.
Spinner Dane Piedt finished with 4-90 for South Africa on debut.
