New Delhi: Supreme Court today stayed criminal proceedings against Team India's ODI skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni in Lord Vishnu controversy case.

Dhoni had last week moved the top court against Karnataka High Court order in the case filed against him for allegedly ‘denigrating' Lord Vishnu on a magazine cover page.

The Special Leave Petition filed by Dhoni challenged the Karnataka HC order which had refused to quash the criminal proceedings pending against him before a trial court in Bengaluru.

The apex court today also issued notice to the petitioner who had filed against Dhoni under Section 295(A) of IPC for hurting the religious sentiments.
