London: Sri Lanka has calmly reached 99-1 at lunch on the last day of the first test after England declared its overnight score and set the visitors 390 to win at Lord's.

England predictably declared on 267-8 before play on Monday.

The English would have hoped to exploit cloudy, cool conditions but hardly ruffled the Sri Lankans.

Opener Kaushal Silva was on 44 not out, and Kumar Sangakkara 34 not out. They brought up their 50 partnership from only 70 balls.

The only wicket to fall was Dimuth Karunaratne's on 16, after he tried to glance a Stuart Broad delivery down the legside, but managed only to deflect it onto his hip and give Sam Robson an easy catch at short leg.

It was Broad's 50th Lord's wicket, the fourth player to reach the milestone after Fred Trueman, Ian Botham, and teammate James Anderson.

The highest successful run chase at Lord's was 344 by the West Indies in 1984.
