Dubai, Jun 7: Umpire Billy Doctrove has decided to retire from the International Cricket Council's elite panel.

The 56-year-old West Indian officiated in 38 test matches, 112 limited-overs internationals and 17 Twenty20s, including the World Twenty20 final between England and Australia in 2010.

The ICC said in a statement Thursday that Doctrove will not be seeking an extension to his contract, which expires later this month.

Doctrove says "it has been incredible years for me as an international umpire and (I) have enjoyed every moment of it."

Doctrove had been due to stand in the ODI and test series between Sri Lanka and Pakistan but withdrew because he had to return to Dominica due to a family bereavement.
