Khulna, Bangladesh, Nov 22 :  Marlon Samuels smashed a half century and Darren Bravo added 41 runs Thursday to help the West Indies recover from a sluggish start to cruise to tea at 146-2 on the second day of the second and final test.

The West Indies slumped to 62-2 at lunch before Samuels and Bravo shared an unbeaten, 103-run, third-wicket stand. Samuels' 62 came off 124 balls.

Bangladesh struggled to get a breakthrough in the second session after it was dismissed for 387 well before lunch.

Chris Gayle was out for 25 and his opening partner Kieran Powell made just 13 as the only West Indies casualties. Sohag Gazi (1-48) had Gayle caught by Mushfiqur Rahim before Shakib Al Hasan caught Powell of Rubel Hossain (1-27).

The hosts lasted just 30 minutes in the first session after resuming the day on 365-8, as Fidel Edwards claimed six wickets for 70 runs and skipper Darren Sammy had 3-74.

Abul Hasan, who resumed on 100, was out for 113 and Mahmudullah was dismissed on 76 after adding just 4 to his overnight score.

On Wednesday, Hasan hit an unbeaten century on his debut.

The 20-year-old brought up his century off just 108 balls to become only the second player to make a test century as a No. 10 batsman after the top and the middle order collapsed.
