New Delhi: A new generation of smartphones with Full High Definition 1920x1080 displays has arrived, the same as your living room HDTV, but with a 5 inch screen size. High definition (HD) visuals means the display has 1920 pixels in width and 1080 pixels in height, giving a pixel count of 440ppi (pixels per inch). A smartphone with a 1080p display will offer crisp, clear, and detailed images, no matter what you are looking at on the screen. It could be a video, a photo, an app, or even just a navigation menu, with 1080p displays, it'll look good. Here is a compilation of some of the best:

Xperia Z

Sony Xperia Z offers unique mix of durability, design, and a powerful camera. Despite being a very large phone the Xperia Z doesn't feel oversized in the hand. The Xperia Z rocks in at 139 x 71 x 7.9mm/5.47 x 2.79 x 0.31 inches. The phone's angular edges and flat back make it less comfortable to hold than the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4, which have gently curved backs. The Xperia Z has the same core specifications as the powerful Google Nexus 4. The 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM yielded a good result in the Geekbench 2 test of 1986, only narrowly short of the Nexus 4's record of 2009. The smartphone comes with a 5-inch full-HD-resolution display (1,920x1,080 pixels), giving a pixel density of 441ppi. Powered by Sony's Triluminous technology, the device promises users vibrant colours and sharp, well defined imagery. From gaming and videos to stills and texts, the handset is ideal for everything media and entertainment. However, the Xperia Z's contrast and viewing angles are not too good. The device has a 13Mp rear facing camera with Sony's Exmor RS sensor. The Superior Auto mode always knows what's going on and adjusts the settings accordingly. There's a burst mode (10 frames per second), sweep panorama, various filter effects and the HRD mode. The Xperia Z is the first smartphone to enable HDR in video mode. There's also a decent 2Mp front facing webcam. Like the rear camera, it can shoot Full HD 1080p video.
