You can stay away from the ‘Kiss of Love'...but just can't avoid ‘Kiss of Diplomacy'!
That's what happens when politicians often slip under the gratitude of diplomacy; ending up being captured wrong while displaying ambassadorial gestures!
So, when US secretary of State John Kerry attempted to plant a ‘kiss of diplomacy' on French President Francois Hollande (who by the way was expecting a warming hug), the duo was caught by photogs in a compromising moment! (At least that's what it seemed)
John Kerry was going in for a kiss, but was duly returned with a gesture of an ‘air-kiss' by the President.
Photogs present, were quite swift to capture the moment which went viral.
Mr. Kerry's attempt to show his empathy in the light of the recent developments in France turned out to be a dampener.
This would not be the first time, when politicians have put themselves in awkward position, check out:
1) Obama kisses Julia Gillard
Obama kisses ex-PM of Australia….we hope Michelle would not mind her dutiful husband's diplomatic gesture.
2) Tony Abott kisses Lisa Newman
This was rather embarassing for Australian PM as the kiss went horribly wrong…indeed!
3) Barack Obama Kisses German Chancellor
US president does not shy away from showing his affection to their European counterparts (which is quite evident!).
4) Tony Blair kissing Michelle Obama
Tony Blair has a rare feat to his credit; he has kissed Clintons, Bushes and now Obamas!
5) Barack Obama kisses Aung San Suu Kyi
Though it was way awkward for Suu Kyi but the Nobel Prize winner attended the gesture with grace.
6) Oprah winfrey kissed Bush
As you can see the discomfiture on their faces, when President Bush wanted to peck at Oprah's chick.
7) Obama and Jill Biden
Under Michelle's watchful eyes this kiss couldn't happen but the intent is quite clear.
