Dilip Kumar is doing fine now and is not on ventilator, says doctor

Dilip Kumar was admitted to the Lilavati Hospital on August 4 evening after he suffered dehydration and a urinary tract infection.

Legendary actor Dilip Kumar, 94 who admitted to hospital on Wednesday citing dehydration and urinary tract infection, is feeling better now and is not on ventilator. The doctors released his health status on Sunday.  On August 4, he was admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai and is undergoing kidney-related problems. He’s showing signs of improvement now. 

"He is better than yesterday (Saturday). He is not on dialysis, not on ventilator. Kidney functions are improving," Jalal D. Parker, one of the doctors, told IANS.

Dilip Kumar was admitted to the Lilavati Hospital on August 4 evening after he suffered dehydration and a urinary tract infection. Now his condition is improving but it is hard to say when he can be discharged from the hospital. Although, his creatinine level is normal. 

“Dilip Kumar is stable, comfortable and steadily improving and all his parameters are also improving. He is slowly coming back to normal. Creatinine level has also been coming down. He is passing urine, he is not on the ventilator, he is not on dialysis either and he is doing well. Dilip Kumar is still in ICU because there we can monitor him in a much better way. It’s very difficult to say when he will be get discharged but it will take some more time,” a statement released by hospital said.

The actor’s team took to Twitter to thank Dilip Kumar’s fans for their wishes and constant prayers for his health. The tweets said, “Dilip Saab is doing much better now. Please remember him in your prayers. The excellent team of doctors and staff of Lilavati Hospital along with Saira Baaji are caring for Dilip Saab 24×7.”

Last seen on the big screen in "Qila" in 1998, the actor was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1994 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2015. He is known for films like "Devdas", "Mughal-e-Azam" and "Karma".
