Actor Akshay Kumar, who is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, has reacted to some recent Bollywood films getting lukewarm response at the box office. The actor feels that the one of the reasons behind it can be the content. This is known to all that in Bollywood, promotions are considered as an important part of the film. Akshay talked about by comparing Hindi films to south and said that things are very systematic there.
The actor revealed to an entertainment portal that in South, the makers don’t have a budget of more than 2 crore for publicity and stars hardly appear on reality shows for promotions. Talking about the similarity, Khiladi Kumar said that release dates in South are also reserved for festivals like Diwali and Pongal. He went on to say that there is nothing threatening and only good films works in the industry.
These few months have not been good for cinema as far as numbers are concerned. Even Jagga Jasoos, Mubarakan and Indu Sarkar are struggling to earn good amount at the box office. Akshay’s consecutive four films entered the coveted Rs 100 crore club. Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is made on a budget of Rs 18 crores and it is yet to be seen if movie buffs shower their love on the film.
The movie is based on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Along with Akshay, it also stars Bhumi Pednekar. Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is all set to hit the screens on August 11.
