The cinematic adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s novel ‘Half Girlfriend’ starring actress Shraddha Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor is all set to hit screens on May 19. But, the movie seems to be cliched right from its poster. It seems that the only saving grace in the film is Arjun Kapoor.
Chetan Bhagat is one of the bestselling author, but it is not a hidden fact that his novels have never received good response from critics. ‘Half Girlfriend’ also got the same reviews when it was released. The novel was far away from reality, and ever since it was released it was said that it will adapted into a film.
The film is helmed by Mohit Suri who has previously directed hit movies like ‘Aashiqui 2’ and ‘Ek Villan’ and is featuring actors Shraddha Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor for the first time. Though the line ‘Dost se zyada Girlfriend se kam’ looks attractive in the poster, but it may offer nothing new owing to its resemblance with Shraddha’s previous films ‘Ok Jaanu’ and ‘Aashiqui 2’. In both the films the actress was seen romancing in rain with her co-star. In ‘Half Girlfriend’ also both Shraddha and Arjun were seen holding hands in rain.

Shraddha’s last two films ‘Ok Jaanu’ and ‘Rock on 2’ couldn’t generate heat at the box office. Though she will be donning a sporty look for the first time, but it seems that her character will be similar to the roles that she has done in the past. But, it will be more interesting to watch Arjun playing a Bihari guy.
Arjun has earlier worked in ‘2 States’ which was also based on Chetan’s novel. The movie entered the coveted Rs 100 crore club. ‘Half Girlfriend’ was termed average by the readers. Now, it will be interesting to watch what will Arjun and Shraddha’s strategy to make the film a worth watch.
