The Bengali beauty has made more news for all the wrong reasons than her acting skills. Swastika who spent her childhood leading a simple life with her parents Santu Mukhopadhyay, Gopa and younger sister Ajopa did her schooling from Carmel School in Kolkata.
In the year 1998, her actual journey started when at the age of 18 she fell in love with Pramit Sen and got married at that tender age. Having an unhappy marriage, Swastika and Pramit's wedlock only lasted for two years. Swastika accused Pramit of physically abusing her and locking her out of their home when she was pregnant and filed charges against him for cruelty. Pramit who had filed for divorce in the year 2000, changed his mind when Swatika had established her name in her filmi career.
Swastika has a daughter Anwesha from her first marriage, who was born in the year 2000.
To move on in life Swastika enrolled at the Ananda Shankar Centre for Culture to learn dance from veteran Tanusree Shankar in the year 2001. With this her relationship with actor Jeet also took flight, but they broke up due to the rumours of Jeet dating another actress Koel Mallick. But her love life didn't end here, as she fell in love with ‘Kahaani' actor Parambrata Chatterjee, while she was already married to Pramit Sen. Furious Sen filed a charge against Chatterjee for criminal adultery and enticement of a married woman. Swastika and Parambrata separated in 2010, when Parambrata moved to London.
In May 2014, Swastika was again in news for attempting suicide to protest against her boyfriend Sumon Mukhopadhyay's arrest.
Just after few months in November 2014, Swastika surprised her fans with another dramatic episode, when it was reported that she was caught on CCTV cameras, tucking in a gold earring in her bag, worth Rs 12, 139 in Singapore. The shop owner also complained against Swastika but fortunately no police complaint was registered against her.
