Los Angeles: Taylor Swift kicked off the Grammy Awards with performance of her latest hit single, "Out of the Woods," while Kendrick Lamar collected his fifth trophy for the night. Kendrick Lamar won Best Rap Album for his sophomore effort, 'To Pimp a Butterfly.' It was the first award televised on Monday.

"Hip-hop, Ice Cube, this for hip-hop, this for Snoop Dogg ...this for Nas. We will live forever, believe that," said Lamar, who also won best rap song, rap performance, rap/sung collaboration and music video earlier in the day. Swift, who won two awards in the pre-telecast, wore a glittery one-piece with a long slit on each side of her body as she sang her pop smash.

Lamar has become the first hip-hop artist to earn 11 nominations for a single night, besting Eminem's previous record. Unfortunately, the rap awards will not be televised, but luckily, Kendrick is also nominated for Album Of The Year, Song Of The Year, and more.

British singer Sheeran won his first Grammy for best pop solo performance for "Thinking Out Loud." The single is also nominated for song and record of the year.

Singer Rihanna, who was slated to perform at the 58th annual Grammy Awards here, has cancelled her appearance.

The "Umbrella" hitmaker singer arrived at the Staples Centre here on Monday, but did not walk the red carpet. She went to rehearsals and left. She was going to sing "Kiss Me Better". She even rehearsed twice but in the end the show just could not go on.

Bieber won best dance recording for his collaboration with DJs Skrillex and Diplo for "Where Are U Now."

"Beliebers.. We did it! I love you. Now get ready for the show. Not done yet," the Canadian singer, who is performing the song at the live show, tweeted to his fans after his win.
