Lucknow, Apr 2: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today met HCL Chairman Shiv Nadar and discussed use of IT in education, industry, governance and health sectors.

During the two-hour meeting, Nadar—in his presentation showed ways to remove illiteracy within 10 years by using IT and also termed announcement to provide tablets and laptops to students as useful, an official release said.

He proposed to provide IT facilities in 20 primary schools in 2012 and 100 schools in 2013.

At the meeting, Akhilesh said that computers were available with all the departments and officers of NIC, which had records of all the departments, were deployed in every district of the state.

Akhilesh directed officers to ensure that besides English, fonts of Urdu and Hindi should also be installed in computers and tablets.

The chief minister also urged IT companies to invest in Lucknow and other cities of the state. He said that if IT would be promoted in commercial tax department, tax evasion could be checked and income of the state would increase tremendously.
