New Delhi : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today called on Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley over financial issues relating the state including new state capital and Polavaram multipurpose irrigation project.

According to state representative K Ramamohan Rao, the Chief Minister sought support from Jaitley for construction of the new capital city, which has been named as Amaravathi.

The Andhra Pradesh government wanted to develop the capital as a modern city, which would be connected by radial roads and will have satellite townships. There would be a ring road, railway connectivity and a new airport, besides inland waterways and growth corridors would be developed around the capital and its region.

Rao also said that Naidu discussed about the Polavaram multipurpose irrigation project, which is being implemented as a national project under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.
