New Delhi: Delhi Transport Minister Gopal Rai on Monday said the Delhi transport department in collaboration with the transport departments of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana will conduct a drive against overloaded vehicles from April 15.

"To check pollution caused by overloaded vehicles in Delhi-NCR, joint teams of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana will conduct a special drive against overloaded vehicles in Delhi-NCR from April 15. A five-member committee has also been formed in this connection," Rai said at a press conference.

He added that the committee would be headed by the Joint Transport Commissioner of Delhi, Anand Tiwari.

The other members of the committee include Yogesh Pratap from the Delhi transport department, Mayank Jyoti from the Uttar Pradesh transport department and Sushil Sarvan and Rajiv Ahlawat from the Haryana transport department.

This decision was taken in a meeting of the transport commissioners of the three states presided over by Rai.
