New Delhi: Nine Afghan women and a man have been arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle into the country gold valuing about Rs 10.60 crore.

The accused were intercepted by customs officials after their arrival from Herat, Afghanistan, at the international airport here on Sunday.

38.430 kgs of gold valued at Rs 10.60 crore was seized from their possession, a customs official said.

All the 10 Afghan passengers were arrested, he said.  It is the biggest seizure in a day so far this year at the Delhi airport, the official added.
