Mumbai: Journalists from different media houses in Mumbai today came out on the streets and staged an impromptu protest at Hutatma Chowk against last night's gangrape of a photojournalist intern.

The journalists sat on silent protest demanding security for mediapersons.

Mumbai Marathi Patrakar Sangh, Mantralaya Vaartahar Vidhi Mandal Sangh, TV journalists association and other media groups took part.

The journalists later went to Mantralaya to hand over a memorandum to Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan demanding stringent action against the perpetrators of gangrape and providing security to journalists in Mumbai.
