Mumbai, Jan 24: Fifty four-year-old Nazeer Ahmed weighed a whopping 190 kilograms and he had almost lost all hope about reducing his obesity.
He could neither walk, or stand properly and used to drag his huge body on the floor.
He hardly came out of his house for the last four years, and as he crossed the age of 50 years, and his weight on the verge of touching 200 kg, he had little hope of leading a normal life.
But, in the last 16 months, the scene changed. Nazir Ahmed can now easily sit on his bed for hours. People are suprised to find how he lost 108 kgs in 16 months.
Once, fire brigade staff had to be called in to his house in South Mumbai with a crane to lift him out.
Ten to fifteen people helped in lifting Nazir Ahmed, weighing 190 kg, to take him inside an ambulance to Breach Candy Hospital.
A three-hour-long surgery and three days in an ICU helped Nazir shed all that flab.
Obesity surgeon Dr Sanjay Barude told India TV how the bariatric surgery not only reduced his flab, but also his intense need for more and more food.
He had to take liquid diet. Today, Nazir weighs 82 kg and doctors are hopeful he may come down to 60 kgs.
