Jaipur: Rajasthan government today announced that 15 types of medical tests will be available free of cost in government hospitals in the state.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot announced the launch of the third phase of the Free Diagnosis scheme in his address to the state on Independence Day.

A large number of people have been covered under this scheme which was launched in April this year, the Chief Minister said.

Medical tests such as hemoglobin estimation, total leukocyte count, differential leukocyte count, blood group, blood sugar, urine and stool analysis will be available to patients free of cost under the scheme.
In the first phase of the scheme, introduced on World Health Day on April 1, 57 types of tests were made available at all medical college hospitals, district hospitals and satellite hospitals.

Community Health Centres were covered with 28 types of tests in the second phase which was launched on Doctors Day on July 1.

According to government records, approximately 80,000 free tests have been conducted under the scheme so far.
