Bhubaneswar: Odisha revenue minister and disaster management minister Surya Narayan Patra today advised people leaving their homes in the wake of Cyclone Phailin to take necessary documents like birth/death/educational certificates and gold ornaments with them.





Speaking to reporters here, Patro appealed to people to stay calm and not to panic.

"The entire state government right from the chief secretary down to lower levels is geared up to meet the challenge. Our officers are ready to work in a missionary mode", Patra said.

The minister said, army jawans and NDRF teams have been deployed in different districts to carry out rescue and relief operations after the cyclone passes.

Patra gave the breakup of number of people evacuated from different coastal districts of Odisha.
