In Bihar, Nitish, Lalu and Sonia take on Narendra Modi

Patna: Sharing a stage for the first time, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, RJD leader Lalu Prasad and Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Sunday denounced Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of failing to fulfil the promises made before the Lok Sabha election.

While Nitish Kumar repeatedly referred to Modi's DNA barb hurled at him, former chief minister Lalu Prasad refuted allegations that a Congress-RJD-Janata Dal-United combine would mean a return of "jungle raj" in Bihar.

Land ordinance to lapse; govt to include suggestions in Bill: PM Modi

New Delhi:  Faced with stiff resistance, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced that the government will not re-promulgate the controversial Ordinance on Land Acquisition which expires tomorrow and declared readiness to incorporate any suggestion in the bill on it which is pending in Rajya Sabha to benefit the farmers.  

Apparently referring to the political opponents, he said lot of doubts have been created over the land bill and fear instilled among farmers even though states had suggested amendments to the Act of 2013 for the benefit of villages and villagers.

Sheena murder: Police seize suitcase, re-create crime scene

Mumbai: The sensational Sheena Bora murder case took another turn today when police seized a suitcase that was purportedly meant for packing the body of her brother, whom Indrani Mukherjea had allegedly planned to kill, even as key accused Sanjeev Khanna and the driver were taken to spot to re-create the crime scene.

Officials were tightlipped about the progress in the probe amidst reports that Indrani and her former husband Sanjeev Khanna had been making contradictory claims about who killed her daughter Sheena three years ago.

Pakistan bans Islamic State, US issues travel advisory

Islamabad: Pakistan has banned the Islamic State militant group that has overrun vast stretches of Iraq and Syria after repeatedly denying the dreaded outfit's presence within its territory.

"The Islamic State or Daesh has been banned in Pakistan," an interior ministry official said on Saturday.

Will take agitation to national level: Hardik Patel

New Delhi: Hardik Patel, the face of Patel quota stir in Gujarat, today announced plans for a nation-wide agitation seeking reservation for nearly “27 crore people” of various communities including Gujjars and Kurmis.  

The 22-year-old leader, who held a series of meeting with various community leaders here, said the reservation agitation “was a marathon and not a 100-metre race” and he intends to hold mega-rallies in different parts of the country to widen the stir.
