Lucknow, Jun 17: In an order which could be of far-reaching consequences, the Uttar Pradesh government today ordered all shopping malls to be kept open from 11 am till 7 pm in view of the prevailing power crisis. All restaurants will be closed down by 10 pm.

A circular issued by the state labour department said, this order will be enforced for the next 15 days.

Medicine shops have been exempted under this order.

All restaurants in the state will open from 11 am till 10 pm for the next 15 days.

An official of the state labour department said, the state government has taken this decision in view of the acute power crisis arising out of the current heat wave.

The order will be in force with immediate effect.

The official said, the state government hoped that the enforcement of this order will help to alleviate the problems of people, in particular the farmers, to some extent.

The official warned that action would be taken against those violating the order.
