Peshawar:  Over 600 people, including 125 illegal Afghan immigrants, have been arrested and a large quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered during raids by police in Pakistan's restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province as part of measures to counter terrorism and improve security.

A total of 604 people, including 125 illegal Afghan immigrants, were arrested in the past two days.
The police recovered 113 arms and 3,034 rounds of different bore.

Inspections were conducted at 1,392 educational institutions which were advised to further beef up security arrangements.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has beefed up security after Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorists killed 150 people, mostly children, at Army Public School in Peshawar on December 16.
