Islamabad: Pakistan Foreign Office today summoned the Indian Deputy High Commissioner and expressed serious concern over what it called "continuous ceasefire violations" by Indian border security force (BSF) across the LoC over the past couple of days.





The Foreign Office raised this issue of firing by Indian troops and said, one Pakistani civilian died in Rawalakot.

Pakistan, which is itself in the midst of controversy over the killings of 5 Indian soldiers in Poonch sector causing widespread outrage in India,  has called upon India to uphold the ceasefire over the LoC.

A Foreign Office spokesperson said  Pakistan reiterates its commitment to the Ceasefire Agreement of 2003‚ which should be respected in letter and spirit.

Pakistan also underlined the need for abiding by and strengthening existing military mechanism to ensure that such violations do not recur.

 
The Foreign Office Spokesman said Pakistan is committed to a constructive‚ sustained and result-oriented process of engagement with India and believes that serious efforts need to be made in maintaining a positive atmosphere and avoid negative propaganda.
