Washington, Jul 15 :Strongly condemning the bomb blasts in Mumbai, the 38-member US Senate India Caucus has said that it stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the Indian people and the government as Mumbaikars recover from the senseless act.
“We strongly condemn the recent atrocity in Mumbai that deliberately targeted innocent and peaceful civilians. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families,” said Senators Mark Warner and John Cornyn, co-chair of the Senate India Caucus for the 112th Congress. “On behalf of the US Senate India Caucus, we stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the Indian people and their government as they recover from this senseless act,” they said.
On Wednesday, three serial blasts in Mumbai claimed 18 lives and left over 100 injured.Warner and Cornyn said these attacks highlight the growing importance of US cooperation with India on security issues, particularly counterterrorism and homeland security, but also point to the need to continue their close collaboration on common interests.
“Our democratic systems are resilient, the enduring friendship between the people of India and the US is strong, and this important relationship must continue to grow,” they said.
