New Delhi: Dalit leader and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from North-West Delhi, Udit Raj had vehemently raised the contentious ‘ghar wapsi' campaign at the recently concluded party's National Executive meet in Bengaluru.

He had said that the conversion program had spoiled India's image on the world stage.

According to a report published in The Indian Express, the BJP leader had questioned party's stand on the issue in the presence of PM Modi, party chief Amit Shah and other senior leaders.

The daily quoted its sources as saying that Udit Raj had asked the Prime Minister how he would face global leaders when he meets them on his tours abroad.

“I raised the issue because the opposition is spreading the word that minorities are unsafe under the BJP government and that we are against minorities. Time and again, they have raised it and the image of the country and the government has been hit by the campaign,” Udit Raj confirmed to The Indian Express.

A BJP leader, who had attended the meet, said that Udit Raj had passionately spoken that the Christian community in the country is feeling insecure and the international community is concerned about the toxic atmosphere created by the ‘ghar wapsi' campaign.

He had also said that the party in its political resolution should send a strong message against such practices.

Udit Raj is also the national chairman of the All India Confederation of SC/ST Organisations.
