Lucknow: Training his guns on Central and UP governments, SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on Saturday alleged that both were following "anti-poor and anti-farmer" policies.

"Both the governments are ignoring price rise, farmers and indulge in misuse of public funds. They are against poor and villages," Mulayam said at a party function here. He claimed that during the three-year rule of the Mayawati-led BSP government, development in the state had taken a backseat.

"Loot, corruption and patronising criminals is the character of this regime and there is complete jungle raj in the state," the SP supremo said. Mulayam said the country is facing several challenges like tackling of corruption.

"At the time of independence, it was dreamt that the country will prosper, people will get employment and get rid of injustice and harassment, but these dreams could not be realised. The country is facing several challenges and people are facing tough time due to corruption and injustice," he said. Mulayam added the party's stance on Women Reservation Bill and caste-based census is clearly in the "interest of the backwards and minorities". PTI
