Just another day in the office for the ‘run-machine’ of India – Virat Kohli. The Indian skipper surpasses yet another batting record of his idol Sachin Tendulkar on 6th July at the historic Sabina Park, Jamaica. Chasing a modest total of 206, the fiery Indian captain played a scintillating knock of unbeaten 111 against West Indies in the fifth and final one-day international. This was Virat’s fourth ODI hundred against West Indies. Courtesy this special knock, India won the five-match ODI series 3-1.

Kohli scored his 28th hundred in ODIs, out of these, 18 have come while chasing. With this knock, he became the most successful batsman in cricket history while chasing in terms of centuries scored. The 28-year old batsman broke Sachin’s record for most hundreds in the one-day format while batting second.

Earlier, Tendulkar held the record for scoring most number of hundreds – 17 while chasing. The most astonishing fact is – while Tendulkar took 232 innings to reach the milestone, the Delhi-born batsman took just 102 innings to go past that landmark. This year in January, Kohli has also broken Sachin's one more record for scoring most number of centuries in successful run-chases.

Looking at the rate at which Virat Kohli is scoring runs, it would be fair to place your bet on him to better Tendulkar's incredible records in international cricket.

Interestingly, Kohli also became the first Indian skipper to hit two hundreds in the Caribbean Islands. Previously, Rahul Dravid had scored a century as captain against the West Indies on their home soil.

After winning the toss, Jason Holder’s men managed to put on 205/9 on board in 50 overs. For India, pacer Mohammed Shami (4/48) and Umesh Yadav (3/53) were among the pick of the bowlers and produced a special performance with the ball.

After Dhawan’s early dismissal, Kohli stitched a crucial stand of 79 runs with in-form Ajinkya Rahane (39) and then with Dinesh Karthik (50*) to seek India home comfortably with eight wickets in hand.
