The ‘run-machine’ - Virat Kohli scored his 30th ODI hundred in the fifth and final ODI against Sri Lanka in Colombo. With this hundred, Kohli has equaled the record of scoring most ODI hundreds with the legendary Ricky Ponting (30 hundreds). Both Kohli and Ponting are now at the second position in the list which is headed by master blaster Sachin Tendulkar who leads the charts with 49 centuries in the 50-over format.

The Indian skipper carried on his from where he left in the fourth ODI at the same ground where he smashed a scintillating 131. Coming in to bat at No.3 after the dismissal of Ajinkya Rahane, the 28-year old got to magical three figure-mark in just 107 balls. Interestingly, Kohli also completed his 1000+ runs in 2017, he achieved this landmark for the record fifth time in his extraordinary career.

This was also Virat Kohli’s 8th ODI hundred against Sri Lanka, he joins Tendulkar on the list who has made an equal number of centuries versus the same opposition. In the modern day cricket, Virat is touted as one of the most consistent performers of the limited-overs format.

He displayed utmost ruthlessness in both captaincy and batsmanship in Colombo as India became the first visiting country to inflict a 5-0 whitewash with a thumping six-wicket victory in the final ODI of the series.

In one of the most lopsided bilateral contests in recent history, India have now completed the back-to-back rout after humiliating the Islanders in the three-Test series, which was also a complete rout.

After Bhuvneshwar Kumar's maiden five-wicket haul enabled India to restrict Sri Lanka to a below-par 238, Kohli for the umpteenth time anchored a successful chase in 46.3 overs with a fluent unbeaten 110.

Kohli got the able support from Kedar Jadhav (63), who redeemed himself after a couple of ducks adding 109 runs with his skipper for the fourth wicket stand
