Watch: Fan breaches security to touch Dhoni’s feet at Feroz Shah Kotla stadium
In hysterical scenes noticed today during the Vijay Hazare Trophy semi-final encounter between Bengal and Jharkhand, a crazy fan broke free from the crowd to touch feet of iconic former national captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Everyone was stunned when a fan ran on to the field to fall at Dhoni's feet but the umpire asked the fans to leave the field after he touched player's feet.
In today's match Bengal rode on a century each from opening batsmen Shreevats Goswami (101) and Abhimanyu Easwaran (101) to defeat Jharkhand by 41 runs.
Jharkhand were bowled out for 288 in 50 overs, even though Dhoni top-scored with 70 in 62 deliveries and Ishank Jaggi contributed 59.
This was not the first time that something like this happened. In fact, in the month of Jan of this year a fan broke free from the packed crowd to touch his feet while the stands reverberated with his name.
The fan ran on to the field to fall at Dhoni's feet, and when the skipper told him not to step on the pitch, he obliged by jumping over.
Dhoni was kind enough to shake his hands as he asked security officials not to beat him up.
That was the final time that India's most successful skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni was seen leading the side although it's an 'A' team.
