KHULNA, Bangladesh: Pakistan established a 296-run first-innings lead over Bangladesh, with left-arm spinner Taijul Islam restricting the damage and taking 6-163 to help bowl out the visitors for 628 on Friday, shortly before lunch on day four of the first test.

Resuming the day 537-5, Pakistan added 91 runs in the morning session, and will be aiming to bowl out Bangladesh for a second time over the last five sessions of the match.

Mohammad Hafeez was the top scorer with 224. Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq made 83 each while Sarfraz Ahmed scored 82. Misbah-ul-Haque contributed 59.

Taijul claimed his third five-wicket haul in just his sixth test, while off-spinner Shuvagata Hom had figures of 2-120.

Asad Shafiq and Sarfraz Ahmed, the two overnight unbeaten batsmen made a rapid start on the fourth morning.

Debutant fast bowler Mohammad Shahid removed Sarfraz to take his maiden test wicket. Sarfraz hit five fours and two sixes in his 88-ball knock.

Taijul then dismissed Wahab Riaz on 0 in the immediate next over.

Asad Shafiq was out attempting a big hit but succeeded only giving a return catch to Shakib Al Hasan.

Taijul then cleaned up the tail to complete his third straight five-wicket haul.

The dismissal of Zulfiqar Babar came in bizarre fashion as the Taijul's delivery deflected off wicketkeeper Mahmudullah's pad to hit the wicket and result in a stumping.

At lunch, Bangladesh was 6-0 in its second innings.
