Lahore, Pakistan (AP): Pakistan selectors have recalled all-rounder Shoaib Malik and fast bowler Mohammad Sami for the three-match one-day international series against Zimbabwe, starting Tuesday.
Malik last played in an ODI in the 2013 Champions Trophy in England while Sami's previous one-day experience was against Sri Lanka in 2012.
Both Malik and Sami featured in Pakistan's 2-0 victory in the Twenty20 series against Zimbabwe, which ended Sunday and was the first international series in Pakistan in six years due to security concerns.
Malik could score only 14 in two T20s but impressed with his tight offspin bowling by taking a combined 2-35 off seven overs. Sami, still the fastest bowler on the domestic circuit at the age of 34, took four wickets in two matches which included 3-36 in the first match.
The selectors also recalled Ahmed Shehzad after the opener was left out for the series against Bangladesh which Pakistan lost 3-0.
The 16-member squad also features ODI uncapped all-rounder Imad Wasim, who made his Twenty20 debut in Pakistan's thrilling two-wicket victory against Zimbabwe on Sunday.
There was no place for offspinner Saeed Ajmal, who struggled in the series against Bangladesh. Ajmal was banned last year for an illegal bowling action but was cleared by the ICC in February after he remodeled his action.
All three ODIs will be played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore with the first on Tuesday.
