Moscow: Jamaica's Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce completed a remarkable sprint double-double on Friday as she added the 200m gold to the 100m crown she won earlier having claimed both titles at last year's Olympics.

However, her eagerly awaited showdown with Allyson Felix failed to materialise as the American, seeking a record ninth world championship gold, pulled up with a hamstring injury early in the race and fell to the track in tears.

Fraser-Pryce ran a brilliant bend and was always in command, coming home in 22.17sec.

Murielle Ahouré of the Ivory Coast, also second in the 100m, pipped Nigeria's Blessing Okagbare by sixth thousandths of a second for silver.

Fraser-Pryce became the first Jamaican woman and only the third in history to win the sprint double at the World Championships, adding her 200m title to the 100m gold won on Monday, with another commanding display.

The other two World Champs female double-sprint champions are Germans Silke Gladisch in 1987 and Katrin Krabbe in 1991.
